STOP THE BLEED® Training

The STOP THE BLEED® course, developed by the American College of Surgeons, teaches participants how to recognize and respond to life-threatening bleeding emergencies.

This hands-on, in-person training covers bleeding recognition, personal safety, and lifesaving bleeding control techniques. Participants will practice essential skills using simulated training equipment, including:

Applying direct pressure
Packing a wound
Using a tourniquet

Upon successful completion, participants receive an ACS STOP THE BLEED® certificate of completion valid for one (1) year. This course also qualifies for MOPD professional development credit.

By the end of the training, you will feel more confident and prepared to help save a life before emergency responders arrive.

American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED – Blended Learning (R.25)

Be prepared to respond with confidence in emergency situations involving adults, children, and infants. The American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED blended learning course (R.25 update) combines flexible online instruction with hands-on, in-person skills practice to deliver the most current lifesaving training standards.

Participants complete a self-paced online component featuring updated videos, interactive activities, and knowledge checks aligned with the R.25 guidelines. After completing the online portion, students attend an in-person skills session where they practice critical techniques, including high-quality CPR, AED use, choking relief, and essential first aid skills, under the guidance of a certified Red Cross instructor.

American Red Cross Instructor-Led Adult & Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED (R.25)

Be prepared to respond confidently in emergencies involving adults, children, and infants. This is a 100% instructor-led, in-person course provides hands-on training with expert guidance—no online components.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants

  • Use an AED safely and effectively

  • Recognize and respond to choking and breathing emergencies

  • Provide basic first aid for common injuries and medical situations

American Red Cross Adult CPR, AED & First Aid – Blended Learning (R.25)

This flexible course combines self-paced online learning with an in-person skills session to teach the latest evidence-based lifesaving techniques.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Perform high-quality CPR on adults

  • Use an AED effectively

  • Recognize and respond to choking and breathing emergencies

  • Provide basic first aid for common injuries and medical situations

The blended format allows you to complete the online portion at your convenience, then practice hands-on skills in a supervised, in-person session. Upon successful completion, participants receive an American Red Cross Adult CPR, AED & First Aid certification, valid for two years.

American Red Cross R.25 Adult CPR, AED & First Aid – Instructor-Led (R.25)

Be prepared to respond confidently in emergencies with the American Red Cross Adult CPR, AED & First Aid course, updated to the R.25 curriculum. This 100% instructor-led, in-person course teaches hands-on skills and knowledge needed to act quickly and save lives.

Participants will learn to:

  • Perform high-quality CPR for adults

  • Use an AED safely and effectively

  • Recognize and respond to choking and breathing emergencies

  • Provide basic first aid for common injuries and medical situations

Through interactive instruction and guided practice, learners gain the confidence and skills to respond effectively in real-world emergencies. Upon successful completion, participants receive an American Red Cross certification, valid for two years.

American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) – Blended Learning

The American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) course is designed for healthcare professionals and public safety personnel who need to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies in clinical and healthcare settings. This course equips participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills to deliver high-quality CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and function effectively as part of a team-based resuscitation effort.

This blended learning course combines a self-paced online component with an instructor-led, in-person skills session:

  • The online portion introduces essential concepts, including recognizing cardiac and respiratory emergencies, the science behind high-quality CPR, and proper AED use.

  • The in-person session focuses on hands-on practice, demonstrations, realistic scenarios, and skills evaluation to ensure competency in real-world emergencies.

Participants will practice:

  • Adult, child, and infant CPR

  • Single-rescuer and team-based resuscitation

  • Effective ventilation using barrier devices and bag-valve-mask (BVM) devices

  • Relieving airway obstructions (choking) in responsive and unresponsive victims

The course emphasizes early recognition of emergencies, high-quality chest compressions, proper ventilation, early defibrillation, and minimizing interruptions during resuscitation.

Note: First Aid training is not included in this course. Upon successful completion of both the online and in-person components, participants receive an American Red Cross BLS certification, valid for two years.

Flexible Blended-Learning Format

Designed to fit your schedule, this blended-learning course includes:

  • Self-paced online learning you can complete on your own time

  • A pre-course skills session to refine hands-on techniques

  • In-person classroom instruction focused on teaching strategies and course delivery

All online coursework must be completed before attending the classroom portion. Access to the online materials will be emailed within 24 hours of registration—be sure to check your inbox and SPAM folder for important course communications.

What You’ll Need Before Class

  • A current base-level CPR certification is required to enroll. Acceptable certifications include those issued by the American Red Cross, Health & Safety Institute, or the American Heart Association.

  • After registering, email a copy of your base-level CPR certification to CPRfirst314@gmail.com to confirm eligibility.

  • Need to renew? CPR First can help - just let us know to schedule a renewal course before the instructor class.

A digital or printed Instructor Manual is required for participation. The Instructor Manual may be purchased directly through the American Red Cross. You may also download and print the manual, or download and use an ebook on your tablet, at no cost.
